Types of Punching System

The punching system produced by our company mainly include the following types:

Expanded Metal Lath

Expanded metal lath is a versatile material commonly used in the construction industry. It's essentially a sheet of metal that's been cut and expanded to create a mesh pattern.

Rectangle Perforated Panel

Rectangular Perforated Sheet is an industry standard, high quality product that can be used for a variety of applications.

Round Perforated Panel

Round perforated panels offer a unique and distinctive look compared to square perforated panels. The circular shape allows for a more organic and flowing pattern that blends seamlessly into its surroundings.

Hexagonal Perforated Panel

Hexagonal perforated panel is a type of perforated metal sheet with hexagonal holes punched into it. This design offers several advantages, such as improved ventilation and visibility, enhanced strength and durability, and a unique aesthetic appeal.

Benefits of Punching System

Expanded Metal Lath

Expanded metal lath have many advantages, including:

Anti-slip

The knuckles formed by the expanded mesh give the material a strong grip: this is particularly useful when constructing stair treads, ramps and walkways. We have also developed a range of specialist anti-slip walkway meshes.

Composite substrates

Expanded metal mesh can be used in combination with other materials to add strength and flexibility to the product. For example, glass, plastic, and other composite materials can be combined into or attached to the mesh for added strength and safety, or for aesthetic properties.

Lightweight strength

Expanded metal sheets are relatively light. During the expansion process the sheet thins; it loses some relative weight. However, this does not mean that you sacrifice its strength.

Reducing costs

If you reduce waste, then you can also reduce manufacturing costs. This is especially important if you are using more expensive metals. If you use expanded metal mesh, then you will use up all your sheets. You won't lose any metal in the perforation process.

Made from one piece of material

Expanded metal mesh is made from one piece of material, which means that there is nothing loose, no micro-movement strands or strained joints or welds. The homogeneous design of the porous metal mesh makes it an inherently strong material that can be used for a wide range of components.

Greater design flexibility

Molding expanded metal into specific applications and designs is often easier. For example, if you want to allow maximum light and air to pass through then you can use a larger cutout to create a larger gap. This is not always possible with perforated panels. If your perforation is too large and there is not enough holding metal around it, you may weaken a sheet of paper.

FAQ

Q: How much do you overlap metal lath?

A: Install lath overlapping a minimum of 1” on both horizontal & vertical joints adjoining at corners or intersections. Overlap outside and inside corners a minimum of 6”.

Q: What is the correct way to install metal lath?

A: Roll out the metal lath over the surface of the wall, starting at the bottom and moving upward. Stretch the lath tightly and attach it to the wall by hamming in 2" galvanized nails through the lath and into the wall every 6" along the edge of the lath and every 12" in a grid for the middle section of the lath.

Q: How do you fix expanded metal lath?

A: The nails or staples should be driven in at an angle pointing away from the sheet centre thereby providing tension to the sheet as they are applied. Fixing should then be completed from the centre to the top and bottom sides starting at the central support and nailing at 100mm centres, maximum.

Q: What is expanded metal lath?

A: Expanded metal lath is formed from sheet steel that has been slit and expanded to form hundreds of “keys” per square yard. It is proven over time to possess exceptional strength and flexibility, making it the preferred metal base requested by contractors and design professionals.
